“Can’t Wait to Read this Story to my Child (who isn’t even born!)”

The other day I was sent an inspiring video by a poet who goes by the name “Probably Tom Foolery”: a COVID-19 bedtime story that gives hope about the future.

The story wonderfully expresses not only much of how I have felt about today’s society and the choices affecting our lives, our surroundings and the environment, but also how I believe the global crisis has given us an opportunity to reflect on what truly matters in this world and what we can do to make it better.

What the poet has done exquisitely, though, was put together the key messages in the form of a bedtime story told from the future – with a happy ending that tells us that one day, we’ll look back on 2020 as a milestone that taught us how to make the world a better place.

I heard he’s turning “The Great Realisation” poem into a children’s book, and as a soon-to-be mom during these corona times, I can’t wait until it’s out so I can one day read it to my child before bedtime, so he can learn of the days leading up to when he was born.
