Test Flight of World’s Biggest E-Plane Proves: It Will Be Cheaper and Cleaner

The world’s biggest electric airplane took off on May 28^th in an inaugural test flight in Washington, USA – and it produced zero carbon emissions!

Retrofitted with an all-electric magni500 propulsion system, the 37-foot-long Cessna Caravan 208B test flight was conducted by electric motor company magniX and airplane testing, engineering, and certification company AeroTEC.

“Electric airplanes will be 40 percent to 70 percent lower cost to operate per flight hour,” says magniX CEO Roei Ganzarski in a statement, according to The Guardian. “That means operators will be able to fly more planes into smaller airports, meaning a shorter and door-to-door experience, with no harmful CO2 emissions.”

The entire test flight was livestreamed on its Facebook page. The plane can fit nine passengers and is one of several examples of electric airplanes  in the works intended to promote eco-friendly solutions to flying.
