EnvironmentAbu Dhabi Puts Dollars in UK’s E-Vehicle Charging Station Initiative
The United Kingdom launched the Charging Initiative Investment Fund with the aim of installing three thousand e-vehicle charging stations across the country, and Abu Dhabi’s Masdar is the first to show its support.
Masdar, a city in the United Arab Emirates that is encouraged by green projects, has promised to pledge 70 out of the 400 million British pounds the UK Treasury needs to fulfill its initiative.
Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Masdar CEO, says, “As one of the cornerstone investors into the Charging Infrastructure Investment Fund, working alongside the UK’s Infrastructure and Projects Authority and Zouk Capital, we hope to encourage closer collaboration between government and the private sector in promoting the wider use of electric vehicles and green transport – in the UK, the United Arab Emirates, and other counties.”
Masdar supports eco-friendly projects in the nation and across the world, and has introduced the Gulf’s first all-electric bus earlier this year.
