During the C40 World Mayors Summit this month in Copenhagen, Denmark, Carlsberg revealed two prototypes of the “Green Fibre Bottle”: fully recyclable beer bottles produced from sustainably sourced wood fibres.
The Danish company plans to transition towards a 100% bio-based bottle and has been working with packaging experts and academics on the development of the concept.
Carlsberg is among many major businesses around the world working on transitioning towards greener product packaging. Unilever, for example, has announced earlier this month its 2025 plan to halve its use of virgin plastic.
