EnvironmentSocietyVeggie Burgers, Pasta Straws, and More: New Food Trends to Lower Carbon Footprint
More and more food companies around the world are finding innovative ways to fight climate change, with food alternatives aimed at lowering overall carbon emissions.
2019 saw a big leap in food trends from supermarkets and restaurants driven to reduce their – and their customers’ – carbon footprint. Fast food companies including Burger King and McDonalds, for example, began selling 100% vegetarian burgers.
Numerous other projects led by example in providing sustainable solutions: straws made out of pasta, silkworm vanilla ice cream, beers brewed with recycled or waste water – all contributing to easing the climate impacts of mass produced food.
