Electric vehicles have swept all major categories at the World Car Awards, signalling a decisive global shift toward cleaner, more efficient mobility.
“EVs are increasingly the best vehicles available in the world, regardless of class,” said Larry Evans, highlighting how electric models are now leading across performance, design and everyday usability.
A global jury of automotive journalists selected electric or electrified models as winners in every category, including the BMW iX3 Neue Klasse as both World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle. Other winners included the Hyundai IONIQ 6 N for performance, the Lucid Gravity for luxury, and the Nio Firefly for city driving. The awards reflect broader market trends, with consumers prioritising efficiency, affordability, quality and safety, all areas where EVs are increasingly competitive. As more models enter global markets and technology advances, the sweep suggests electric mobility is no longer emerging, but becoming the new standard across the automotive industry.
