Society UzbekistanInvesting Billions, to Lift Millions Out of Poverty
The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has reaffirmed its significant role in financing inclusive development and poverty reduction in Uzbekistan — supporting projects that create jobs, enhance infrastructure, and drive growth in underserved communities.
“Uzbekistan’s bold social and economic initiatives stand as a model in the region. Through strategic partnership, we are witnessing real change, where investments translate into opportunities, jobs, and a brighter future for millions,” said Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, President of IsDB.
Over the years, the IsDB has mobilised more than USD 4.96 billion in support across the finance, agriculture, and infrastructure sectors. In 2025 alone, it committed over USD 523 million to socially focused projects in healthcare, education, and rural development. Since 2016, reforms have helped lift 7.5 million people out of poverty, reducing the national poverty rate to 8.9 per cent in 2024 — a government aim is to further shrink it to 6 per cent by year’s end. With these kinds of investments, the partnership demonstrates how long-term capital, policy alignment, and a shared vision can transform development goals into tangible results.
