Melinda Gates, co-founder of the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation, fears that United States politics will stop caring about the issues of inequality – and will spend a billion dollars to do something against it.
“One billion dollars is a lot of money, but I also recognize that it’s only a small fraction of what’s necessary,” says Gates, head of investment and incubation company Pivotal Ventures.
Pivotal Ventures will fund partners who work towards progressing women’s influence and rights in the country.
The company aims to break down obstacles to women’s job advancement such as sexual harassment, advance women in technology, media, public office and other prominent fields, and encourage shareholders, clients and employees to urge companies to improve.
