Environment IndiaNational Solar Growth Breaks Records
India’s renewable energy expansion has reached new heights, with 17.5 GW of solar capacity installed between April and August 2025 — the fastest pace yet in the nation’s clean-power transition.
A total of 20.1 GW of renewable capacity was added in just five months, a 123% increase over the same period last year.
The surge, supported by a strong project pipeline of 142.8 GW, favourable solar-module prices, and robust electricity demand, positions the country to exceed 35 GW of new capacity this fiscal year. Tax cuts on solar and wind equipment have lowered generation costs, while energy-storage projects are gaining traction, with capacity expected to reach 50 GW by 2030. With a stable outlook and strong policy backing, India’s clean-energy momentum shows no sign of slowing.
