Society AzerbaijanRehabilitated Road Brings Safer Travel and New Opportunities for Rural Communities
A rebuilt transport corridor is improving daily life in Azerbaijan, where upgraded road access is helping rural communities reach schools, markets and services more safely and efficiently.
“Thanks to the construction of this road, our attendance is between 95% and 100%,” said Faiq Çobanov, school principal in Qardili village.
More than 70 kilometres of roadway now serve over 6,000 daily users and benefit around 100,000 nearby residents, cutting travel costs and supporting agriculture, while business training for more than 300 community members helped expand roadside enterprises and environmental improvements near Lake Mahmudchala restored water flows, contributing to migratory bird counts rising to roughly 30,000–40,000 each winter.
