Heroes The WorldShe’s Investing in Women’s Health All Over the World
More than 80 nonprofits across 119 countries have received $250 million in grants from Melinda French Gates to strengthen women’s health care and reproductive rights in underserved communities.
“It will be instructive for the world to see what happens when organisations like these aren’t so chronically underfunded,” said Melinda French Gates, founder of Pivotal.
The funding, part of a $1 billion commitment to women’s rights, supports groups such as the Likhaan Center in the Philippines and Mujeres Aliadas in Mexico, whose community-based models deliver care, train midwives, and empower women through education. Grants range from $1 million to $5 million, marking a transformative investment in local solutions for global gender equality.
