Smart Toilet Checks Your Medical Data, Every Time You Go!

Researchers have developed a “smart toilet” that can analyze urine and feces to help indicate certain illnesses, diseases, infections or cancers more effectively and efficiently.

The toilet, developed by Stanford radiologist Sanjiv “Sam” Gambhir and his team, securely scans a user’s unique “anal print” to match the results to the patient as a means to accurately monitor their health.

“The smart toilet is the perfect way to harness a source of data that’s typically ignored,” says Gambhir. “And the user doesn’t have to do anything differently.”

Algorithms are used to identify abnormalities in samples, and the toilet sends all required information to the cloud, after which the secured data will be de-identified in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
