Society Sweden“We Take Your Old Furniture Back on Black Friday”, IKEA Tells Customers
The Swedish giant Ikea launches its “Buy Back” initiative on 27 November, which coincides with Black Friday, repossessing unwanted furniture items in exchange for vouchers to be spent at its stores.
“By making sustainable living more simple and accessible, Ikea hopes that the initiative will help its customers take a stand against excessive consumption this Black Friday and in the years to come,” reads the press release.
Black Friday marks the day, Christmas shopping starts in the US and usually goes with sales and special offers. Wishing to become more environmentally friendly, Ikea will recycle everything that cannot be resold to reuse and upcycle materials and products as its goal is to become “a fully circular and climate positive business by 2030”.
