Over One Billion Trees Planted Here… And Counting!

Pakistan is on track to reach its first target of planting 1.5 billion trees by the end of 2021 as part of the country’s dedication to ecosystem restoration and sustainable growth.

“The [Green Stimulus’s $120 million] will be used from October this year with all provinces on board. It includes massive and innovative plantation projects particularly billion tree olives, billion tree honey, mangroves plantation,” says Malik Amin Aslam, Special Assistant on Climate Change.

The Ten Billion Tree Tsunami plantation project has generated 500,000 jobs so far. The government has increased its number of national parks, going from 30 to 45, and the 15 new ones have been launched during the Covid-19 lockdown under the Protected Areas Initiative, part of the Green Stimulus which focuses on innovative financial tools to help build sustainable, responsible economic growth.
