13 Million Children Get Gift of Immunity Against Deadly Diseases

For the first time since 2014, UNICEF and partners were able to access nearly 13 million children in Sudan including in restricted areas, to be vaccinated against measles and polio.

Local health authorities, the World Health Organization and UNICEF worked together in a campaign to provide children under 10 years of age with the necessary vaccinations, combined with vitamin A supplement, across 18 states.

“We welcome the new window of access that allowed to vaccinate children in South Kordofan and the Blue Nile. This will significantly reduce the risk of diseases spreading among children,” said UNICEF Representative in Sudan Abdullah Fadil.
