Happiness Is a Musician in Your Backyard

As a freelance violinist in Munich normally I would spend this year doing public concerts internationally. Since the coronavirus, all jobs were canceled. Nevertheless, with a team of five artist friends, we have decided: We are creatives – let’s get creative and don’t await help.

In May we launched our website CouponConcerts, where private people can buy tickets for exclusive classical concerts at their homes. Whether a solo pianist or a violinist duo or more musicians – everything is possible. For only 200 Euros an artist plays for 45 minutes in your living room. 250 musicians all over Germany have joined our network. So far we sold tickets for more than 30000 Euros, paid out immediately to the musicians.

But it is not only about money: For us and for the clients, the initiative means experiencing live concerts again, though on a small stage. A great moment was recently when one of our pianists performed at the home of an elderly couple and they said afterward: „This really feels like happiness.“
