97 years old woman walks for money to help children in need

I am a teacher and I am also working as a volunteer for the non-profit organization “Mary’s Meals”, which provides meals to school children in 19 poor countries.

In my neighborhood in the local community of Notulm in Westphalia lives a 97-year-old lady, Marietheres Wübken, with whom I’m befriended for many years. Marietheres walks with her rollator twice a day around our village despite her high age – an impressive 3,7 kilometers per day. That’s why I came up with the idea that she could walk to raise donations for “Mary’s Meals”.

Now Marietheres has already walked about 60 kilometers fort he campaign „Move for meals“ and donators have already sent us 33,000 Euros. With this money, we can provide several hundred children in a school in Malawi with meals for a whole year. We are very happy about this great success, and Marietheres still doesn’t stop her engagement for the good cause. She wants to reach 100 kilometers until the end of June with her walks for children’s meals.
