150,000 Dollars Are on the Table for Food-Tech Startups

A new scheme is offering a $150,000 investment to around 36 international entrepreneurs looking to utilize tech to make eco-conscious food, in a drive to tackle climate change, malnutrition and biodiversity loss.

Katapult Food, a Norwegian investor based in Oslo, launched the initiative in London, England last month, with an aim to encourage promising startups focused on food technology such as robotic farming and lab meat production.

“We wanted to see if there is a way to fix the (global) food system… food tech is probably the most effective lever we can explore,” says Katapult Food’s Eirik Svendsen.

The scheme will also train the entrepreneurs with marketing skills and provide them with networking opportunities, with the help of London’s Conduit, a privet members club focused on social change.
