Society GazaFull Food Needs Reached After Months of Shortfalls
Basic food requirements are being fully met in Gaza for the first time since 2023, marking a critical improvement in humanitarian access and nutrition.
“This is the first round since October 2023 in which partners had sufficient stock to meet 100 per cent of minimum caloric needs,” said Stéphane Dujarric, spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General.
In January 2026, families received complete nutritional rations after months of surviving on just 50–75% of required calories, supported by the delivery of more than 10,000 metric tonnes of aid in one week and daily production of 170,000 subsidised bread bundles. The progress highlights the life-saving impact of sustained humanitarian access, with the UN stressing that continued, unimpeded aid flows are essential to maintain these gains for civilians.
