Twibber StoriesAfter 100 years in motion, now Dietrich wants to play a tennis star!
What makes my life better? First of all, I’m 100 years old and still happily alive. Second, I survived the military in the Second World War, then three years as a war prisoner and, much later, the escape from communist East Germany. Third – I just made it into the Guinness Book of Records: My friend Egon Kraft, 92, and I are the eldest tennis double players worldwide. We play tennis twice a week against much younger club members. And quite often, we win.
I also do gymnastics, swim, and go for Nordic walking every morning. I take care of myself, my household, and my garden. My claim: Stay in motion physically – but also mentally! Having worked hard all my life in the mining industry, I learned English and French since my retirement. I have a computer, do emails and talk to my daughter every evening via WhatsApp video.
My plan for 2025: Playing a match against tennis champion Alexander Zverev this spring on the sidelines of the tournament in Halle, Germany. Let’s see who will win!
