Land of the “Autobahn” Wants a Million Electric Car Charging Points in a Decade from Now

Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel has stressed the importance of accelerating the switch to low-emission e-vehicles, urging the car industry to participate in the country’s efforts to have one million electric car charging stations set up by 2030.

This comes ahead of a meeting with the car industry on how to speed up the transition to battery-operated vehicales so that Germany’s transport sector can help meet national emissions targets.

The government of Germany, the country that invented the car and the speed limit-free “Autobahn”, is additionally seeking alternatives to gasoline and diesel vehicles beyond just electric ones, exploring vehicles that run on hydrogen fuel cells.
