An American company has developed a biodegradable pregnancy test that can be simply and safely flushed down the toilet, giving accurate results to future parents without contributing to the plastic crisis.
LIA’s ultra-thin design is the first at-home pregnancy detector made completely out of paper, therefore making it another type of “toilet paper” that can easily be flushed in the toilet.
The small test – which fits easily in a purse or a pocket – is made from paper that resembles 3-ply toilet paper, and biodegrades within 10 days. A special coating protects the handmade test while in use, and once submerged in water, the coating dissolves and the paper disintegrates.
