Environment The WorldClean Energy Surges Well Beyond Expectations!
A decade after nearly 200 nations adopted the Paris Agreement, the world is on track for 2.6°C of warming by 2100, down from the 4°C that was once feared, thanks to unprecedented growth in clean energy and stronger global climate policies.
“The choice is simple: be part of it and prosper, or stand aside and watch your influence fade,” said lead author John Lang, reflecting on how technology, ambition, and governance have outpaced expectations since 2015.
The report shows solar installations soared to 553 GW in 2024 — fifteen times higher than predicted a decade ago — while renewables now generate over 41 per cent of global power and have overtaken coal. Clean-energy investment is expected to reach $2.2 trillion in 2025, surpassing fossil-fuel spending, and global CO₂ emissions have nearly plateaued. Electric-vehicle adoption and green jobs have also surged, marking a decisive decade that has defied predictions and accelerated the world’s transition toward a low-carbon future.
