Completely Exonerated… After 55 Years!

More than 55 years after being wrongfully convicted of the murder of civil rights leader Malcolm X in 1965, two men have been exonerated, correcting the historical record of one of America’s influential leaders of the civil rights era.

“This points to the truth that law enforcement over history has often failed to live up to its responsibilities,” points out Manhattan district attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr.

As inconsistencies stood out in the case, a 22-month investigation led by D.A. Vance and lawyers from the Innocence Project took place. Consequently, Muhammad A. Azziz and Khalil Islam – who each served more than 20 years in prison and who always maintained their innocence – were cleared by a judge.
