1,000 E-Powered Delivery Vehicles Help to Fight Mega-Smog in Delhi

India’s capital Dehli is notorious for its high level of air pollution. Now Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot announced to give electric vehicles to online delivery services.

The announcement was made in June during the inauguration of the Urban Mobility Lab, a workshop promoting cost-effective and green alternatives to transporting people and goods in Indian cities, also supported by the US-based Rocky Mountain Institute.

“Delhi government believes electric vehicles (EVs) are the future and it’s time to bring this future into the present,” says Gahlot.

More than 30 people have come together in the Lab to pilot up to 1,000 electric vehicles – over a period of 12 months – for the “last mile” of deliveries to the consumers.
