TV Star Ellen DeGeneres Wants You to Wear Cozy Furs – as Long as They’re Fake!

Animal-loving American talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has co-founded a new company that makes luxury faux fur goods. Her mission: giving people a soft and cozy solution to staying warm while discouraging animal cruelty.

Fur farming leads to 100 million animal deaths each year. To fight back, the company, UnHide, in partnership with The Humane Society of The United States, sells animal-friendly fashion for people to enjoy.

“I want people to stop using and wearing fur, it’s that simple,” says DeGeneres to People. “The material we use in UnHide products are soft, warm and comfortable and I hope people find it as a great alternative.”

Fur pelts are not biodegradable because of all the chemicals required to make them wearable. Fur farming is also incredibly damaging to the environment, with 28 times greater impact than polyester, according to Fur Free Retailer.
