It’s Free: Baby Starter Kit Has 60 Things Parents Really Need

Finland is one of the most stable, family-friendly countries in the world, and it loves to spend on the well-being of its residents – including baby starter kits for new parents boasting over 60 essential items for newborns!

Kela, the Finnish social security system, picks their “baby box” items according to the “significance for promoting the health and well-being of the mother and child.” The items include clothes, blankets, personal care items and toys, with the box itself safe to use as a padded crib.

In case some parents have all they need, Kela offers the choice between taking the maternity package or opting for a cash payment of 170 euros.
