Stop Killing Seals, Handball Stars Tell Canada

In the days leading up to the European Championship, Germany’s national handball team joined PETA in a message against animal cruelty: posing shirtless with an artificial blood wound on their shoulders, they called for Canada to stop hunting seals.

PETA, an animal welfare organization, highlights that up to 400,000 seals are hunted each year in Canada, with permission and financial support from the government.

Seven players from the professional team – Paul Drux, Fabian Wiede, Jannik Kohlbacher, Steffen Fäth, Patrick Groetzki, Julius Kühn and Tobias Reichmann – partook in the emotional protest.
