The European Film Market Goes Green – Promising Less Waste and Carbon Footprint

The European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin, Germany is one of the top meeting events of the film and media industry – and it’s pledging to “take its responsibility for the environment” in a promise to become a more sustainable market.

Among its list of twelve sustainability vows, the EFM has announced that it is officially banning all single-use plastic cups from its locations and implementing a Bring-Your-Own-Cup policy. It will also begin sorting waste at all its locations starting this year.

Visitors may also soon be rewarded for choosing more eco-friendly traveling options encouraged by the EFM. In the meantime, the market will reduce its own carbon footprint and compensate for the flights that can’t be avoided, while additionally thinking of greener alternatives to its shuttle system.
