This Company Turns Plastic Bottles into Road Tiles

A company in Ghana is taking the plastic waste that would otherwise end up on the streets, beaches or landfills and turning it into paving blocks to build roads.

“Ghana generates about 22,000 tonnes of plastic waste annually,” says Nelson Boateng, founder and CEO of Nelplast Ghana Limited, to BBC. “Our main goal is to get rid of the plastic waste that we have in Ghana.”

The company produces 1,500 bricks a day, transforming all kinds of plastic waste – except PVC pipes – into road tiles.
