Environment ChinaLess Desert, More Green in This Nation
According to an afforestation work report, the desertified land in China has decreased by more than 4 million hectares since 2012 through the implementation of important desertification control projects.
Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party 12 years ago, the country has effectively rehabilitated 53% of its treatable desertified land.
China is working relentlessly to prevent and control desertification. The “Three-North” – northern, northeastern, and northwestern – Shelterbelt Forest Program is among the significant desertification projects implemented. Scientific and technological innovation is also promoted to tackle the problem. Desertified areas have unique resources that could lead to the development of industries capable of boosting local incomes while improving the ecology.
