Low-Income Housing Program Is (Re)Launching!

Low-income citizens from Brazil will soon have access to houses since the newly elected President intends to restart the housing program he launched almost 15 years ago.

The construction of some 120,000 unfinished units will be resumed, and government subsidy will be boosted for home ownership and for the work done by homebuilders like MRV and Tenda.

Launched in 2009 during President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s second presidential term, the housing program “Minha Casa, Minha Vida” – or “My Home, My Life” – was shut down by his successor, former President Jair Bolsorano. It is revived as part of the administration’s desire to initiate programs that boost the economy and benefit the population quickly. A highways program will also be resumed shortly.
