Putting in Big Bucks to Make Hospitals Better

The British government has approved a record investment in the hospital infrastructure, vowing to build 40 new safe and state-of-the-art facilities and rebuild five major hospitals by 2030 to benefit patients and staff alike.

“As we approach the 75th anniversary of our fantastic National Health Service, this extra investment will ensure it can care for patients for decades to come and help cut waiting lists, so they get the treatment they need quicker,” says Health and Social Care Secretary, Steve Barclay.

A whopping $25 billion will be injected into the New Hospital Programme. The government’s commitment includes the rebuilding of five reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete – a lightweight form of concrete used in roof, floor, cladding, and wall construction in the United Kingdom between the mid-1950s to the mid-1980s –the construction of three mental health hospitals, and the erection of 40 new hospitals across England – two are already complete, five are under construction, and 20 more will be either underway or complete by the end of next year.
