Environment South KoreaPublic Buildings in Seoul Will Be Solar Powered by 2022
South Korea’s capital city of Seoul is planning a major renewable-energy revolution: by 2022, all public buildings, as well as one million homes, are expected to have solar panels set up on their roofs.
Asia’s fourth-largest economy is planning a host of initiatives for businesses and individuals to transition towards affordable, accessible, and in some cases even mandatory solar use.
The solar panel project, called Solar City Seoul, is part of a program working on driving the city away from coal, gas and nuclear power sources, having already added enough capacity to reduce carbon emissions by more than 100 tonnes. Adding the solar panels will help further reduce the emissions by over half a million tonnes.
