The Future of Clean Energy Generation: First-of-Its-Kind Wind Farm

The pioneering wind project, Green Volt, will soon be Europe’s first commercial-scale offshore wind farm, providing sustainable electricity in Scotland and across the United Kingdom.

“It is fantastic to have received the green light to deliver the world’s biggest floating offshore wind project, right here in the Scottish North Sea. This major milestone places Flotation Energy and our Joint Venture Partner, Vårgrønn, firmly at the heart of the energy transition,” says Humza Yousaf, First Minister of Scotland.

Thirty-five floating wind turbines will provide up to 560 megawatts of renewable energy – part of which will be used to power oil and gas platforms, replacing existing natural gas and diesel power generation; the other part will provide clean energy across the United Kingdom. Green Volt will secure Scotland’s place as a leader in floating wind technology, a trend that will likely become more and more common in the coming years across the globe. The multi-billion pound development will make it the world’s largest floating offshore wind project and is expected to provide numerous local jobs. Moreover, Green Volt has emphasized its commitment to upholding rigorous environmental standards and practices.
