The World’s Going Electric: EV Sales Reach New High, Again

September 2024 saw a new record for electric vehicle sales.

“This record-breaking month of EV sales brings new hope to the industry,” says Charles Lester, Rho Motion Data Manager.

September topped the charts with all-electric and plug-in hybrid cars, with 1.7 million in sales around the world. This is 150,000 more units than the previous record, set in December 2023. The January to September period of 2024 saw a steady 22 per cent increase in total electric vehicle sales compared to the same period last year. China has seen one of the most impressive increases in EV sales, with the United States and Canada also being key players.
