Music Truck Makes Refugees Swing

Music connects – and this is also the name of our non-profit organization in Munich. As a business consultant, I have founded the association Music Connects e.V. 2018 with eight other people, entrepreneurs, managers, and musicians.

Our focus is Brass music – inspired by the English brass bands. Our goal is to give concerts in Africa and to show young people there the fascination of instruments – and how to play them. With our truck, a mobile multi-media music laboratory, we went for example to Bidi Bidi in Uganda recently, the second biggest refugee camp in the world with about 230,000 people. They were as happy about the experience as we were!

Thanks to development assistance from the German government we are able to create a sustainable impact in the camps. Our mission is to empower the creative economy in Africa. We create jobs, for music teachers, technicians, or drivers. With our network of teachers, 500 children alone in Uganda learn musical instruments every week. For us, music is daily food – and gives hope to all of us.
