Auto Giant Switches Big Factory to Build Electric Cars Only

Volkswagen, one of the largest carmakers in the world, dedicates one of its biggest factories in Germany, located in Zwickau, solely to the production of electric cars.

As the plant will have to undergo a shift to handle EV (electric vehicle) production, the automobile manufacturer ensures 20,000 hours of training for its 8,000 employees so they can handle high-voltage systems. This initiative will prevent job losses.

It is not surprising to see carmakers shift to only producing EVs as the electric car will play a huge part in the future of personal mobility. Volkswagen, Seat and Audi, the three marques that are part of the VW group of brands, intend to start the production of an electric SUV, starting with Audi later this year.
