Twibber Stories ArmeniaTwibber Fights Flight Shame with a Handful of Dollars, Has “His” Tree Now
I am a frequent flyer due to my work and recently my “flying shame” grew, I have to admit. So for the first time in my life, when booking an Air France flight from Dubai to Amsterdam, I opted for the “Carbon Offset” and spent a couple of dollars on it.
They called it the “Trip & Tree” program, promising a tree would be planted for my money. I thought this is all I’ll know, and I just have to trust that my donation will be handled decently.
To my positive surprise, I received an email a few weeks later by an organization called “A Tree for You”, telling me in detail, where “my” tree was planted (a rural area in Armenia) and why (to restore the forest there, which had been illegally logged). They even sent a picture (attached) , a map and loads of detailed information about the specific project ! I think I have a new frequent habit now, and my flight shame is a little bit reduced now…
