Consul with A Big Heart Helps Farmers Grow Cacao

As the Honorary Consul of Togo in Bavaria, I am very motivated to contribute to improving minimum wages in Africa in order to create more domestic demand, to connect social and environmental standards to our cooperation and to help developing moral capitalism.

Also, higher income will help reduce the population growth. We, Europeans, should therefore invest much, much more strongly and connect these 2 reforms in order to work on the joint goals. Our project is to help Togo become a cocoa exporting and refining country. Cocoa could become an additional important source of income for the country.

Our project empowers farmers to plant and harvest cocoa while keeping ownership of their land. We are currently empowering 1,500 farmers. This program will be finished in 2 years and is totally privately funded. In case we can achieve a public private partnership, this should increase to 30,000 farmers and hectares, which is the minimum to build a cocoa refinery in Togo.
