Polluting Pipeline Put to a Stop

The crossing permit needed for the construction of the pipeline meant to transport crude tar sand oil from Alberta, Canada, to Nebraska, United States, has officially been canceled since Canadian officials failed to change American President Biden’s mind.

Upon canceling the Keystone XL project on his first day of office in January, President Biden said allowing the line to proceed “would not be consistent with my administration’s economic and climate imperatives.”

The 1,930-kilometer pipeline project developed by Calgary-based TC Energy, formerly named TransCanada, is therefore halted. For good reason, burning oil sands crude could potentially worsen climate change, even making it harder to reserve. Native Americans heaved a sigh of relief since they fought tooth and nail to stop the pipeline from existing.
