Society VietnamCrime Falls Sharply as Enforcement Reforms Deliver Results
Vietnam recorded a broad decline in crime in 2025, with most major offences falling and police exceeding national targets for solving serious cases.
“Most crime categories have been pushed down and investigations into major cases have been significantly accelerated,” said Lýõng Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security.
Crimes against social order dropped by over 12%, economic crimes by nearly 29%, and corruption-related cases by 18% compared with 2024, while environmental and food safety violations fell 48% following intensified inspections. Police conducted nine nationwide crime-suppression campaigns, achieving an overall clearance rate of more than 81%, rising to more than 95% for especially serious cases. Lawmakers noted rising fraud and counterfeit goods, but said the overall 19% year-on-year decline in crime indicates that enforcement reforms, digital policing tools, and coordinated national operations are delivering measurable public safety gains.
