The journey separating Delhi and Mumbai in India will soon be substantially shorter thanks to brand-new express trains, and the authorities are looking to eventually have a fleet of sleepers equipped with comfort and high-tech commodities.
It takes between 16 and 20 hours to cover the distance between the two Indian cities – a total of 1,300 kilometers – and with the upcoming upgrade, the journey will be done in only 12 hours.
New Vande Bharat Express trains will be able to reach 220 km/h – compared with the current top speed of 130 km/h – but they will most likely travel at around 180 km/h. Those brand-new trains could possibly become sleepers with night train options including Wi-Fi, LED screens, and air purification systems, and be added to the country’s night train network.
