‘Army of Angels’ Volunteer to Bring Relief to Bushfire Victims

The bushfire crisis in Victoria, Australia has caused severe damage to properties and farms. But an ‘army of angels’ have loaded a convoy of 150 trucks with essential supplies, to help relieve farmers of many of their worries.

“We’re taking everything from dog food, cat food, sheep feed, hay, toothbrushes, you name it,” says Malcolm Leys from the East Gippsland Livestock Exchange, who is organizing the convoy. “It’s been such a wonderful response.”

The East Gippsland volunteers drove the trucks – filled with food, clothes and toiletries – from Bairnsdale to fire-ravaged communities such as Omeo and Buchan. Local farmers were emotional upon the arrival of the ‘army of angers’, with Omeo farmer Russell Foster highlighting that the generosity of the people is “just fantastic”.
