Britain is putting a revolutionary farm policy on the table – the biggest of its kind in over 70 years: the government has proposed not just paying farmers to own land, but also rewarding them for protecting the environment!

If the bill becomes law, farmers in England who take better care of their soil, livestock and water, and who conserve plants and animals, will earn rewards.

The president of the National Farmers’ Union, Minette, Batters, calls the bill “one of the most significant pieces of legislation for farmers in England for over 70 years”.

The bill would “transform British farming, enabling a balance between food production and the environment,” says Theresa Villiers, Britain’s farm minister, in a statement.
