They Don’t Have Proper Papers – but 150,000 Immigrants Will Still Receive Cash

Unauthorized immigrants in California, U.S., can now apply to receive $500 of coronavirus relief from the state, benefiting around 150,000 undocumented adults who did not qualify to receive the federal cash assistance from the CARES Act passed by Congress.

“Every Californian, including our undocumented neighbors and friends, should know that California is here to support them during this crisis,” says California Governor Gavin Newsom.

A total of $125 million is being provided to help the unauthorized immigrants during the pandemic, according to Newsom, with $75 million coming from the state and $50 million coming from private philanthropic sponsors.
