Heroes United KingdomJ.K. Rowling, Rihanna, Jay-Z and Boss of Twitter Give Millions to Help Domestic Violence Victims
Celebrities are responding to the coronavirus outbreak, which has hit the homeless hard and inflated the number of domestic violence victims, by donating millions of dollars to help charities and organizations tackle these challenging times.
“Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling, who recently recovered from the coronavirus herself, has donated the equivalent of 1.25 million dollars to two British charities: Crisis, which helps the homeless, and Refuge, which helps victims of domestic abuse.
“As ever in a crisis of this sort, the poorest and most vulnerable are hit hardest,” writes the 54-year-old author on Twitter.
Last month, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey joined forces with singers Rihanna and Jay-Z’s foundations – the Clara Lionel Foundation and Shawn Carter Foundation – to donate $6.2 million to 11 organizations, some of which also help the homeless and domestic violence victims.
