China Will Send Millions of Corona Vaccine Doses to Countries in Africa (They Helped Them Test It)

In the months to come, China intends to send millions of coronavirus vaccine doses to countries where phase 3 trials took place, but also to countries in the developing world as China’s leaders stressed that their vaccines are for sharing.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said that China’s coronavirus vaccine would be “global public good,” calling it the country’s “contribution to ensuring vaccine accessibility and affordability in developing countries.” Xi also promised to African leaders that “once the development and deployment of a Covid-19 vaccine is completed in China, African countries will be among the first to benefit.”

Since the virus has been virtually eradicated on China’s territory and therefore could not be tested at home, the trials took place in 16 countries, and those were promised early doses of the successful vaccine. In its efforts to eradicate the pandemic, China will donate $2 billion over two years to help countries struggling to recover, and a $1 billion loan to Latin America and the Caribbean in order for them to receive its coronavirus vaccines.
