Conservative Nation Launches Its First-Ever Women’s Football League

The first women’s football league has officially been launched in Saudi Arabia, marking a major turn in the history of negative views toward women in sports.

Though the Saudi Arabia football federation began its support of women’s football in 2017, the league did not officially launch until November 2021.

The new league is spread out over sixteen teams, three cities, and several matches, with the women competing to play in the Kingdom Final Championship. Yasser Almisehal, the federation chairman, stated that this is “an important moment” for the federation.
