Electric Cars Sales Reach All-Time High

The month of March saw a record number of plugin autos sold in Norway with a whopping 92% of the market share as the Scandinavian country keeps its leading position for electric vehicle adoption.

For the year’s first quarter, the plug-in share stands at 90.1%, a 9% increase from the previous year’s first 3-month period. As for the number of battery electric vehicles (BEVs), the share went from 52.8% to 82.9% year on year, an impressive boost proving that soon, the country will become fully electric.

Overall auto market share went up 6% year-on-year with 16,238 units sold. Tesla’s Model Y took the top spot in sell’s share in March, the Model 3 finished in second place, and Volkswagen ID.4 and Audi Q4 e-tron took respectively third and fourth place. Half of the country’s fleet could be plugins — mostly BEVs — by mid-2026 at the latest. By 2030, that share is expected to reach at least 75%, or potentially as high as 85%.
